Georgian Nordic COVID-19 Operational Update
At the Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre, we take our mission statement, “Promoting healthy outdoor activity for all ages,” seriously. Over the past 19 months, we’ve been particularly focused on one word in that statement: healthy.
As you likely know, last ski season we operated under strict COVID-19 protocols by not allowing non-members to use our facilities, for example, and by limiting access to our chalet. Your board’s COVID-19 working committee worked closely with the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit to develop these protocols, and they were successful in keeping our staff and volunteers, and all trail users, safe.
This year, our goal is no different. Georgian Nordic has a responsibility to protect everyone who uses our facilities, including vulnerable populations, such as children under 12, who aren’t yet eligible for vaccination, and those who are medically unable to be vaccinated. To that end, Georgian Nordic will require all users of club facilities, including the trail network, over the age of 12 to provide documentation of complete COVID-19 vaccination for the upcoming ski season (with the exception of those with appropriately documented medical exemptions). Georgian Nordic will also welcome members and non-members this season, provided they meet these criteria.
This policy was developed with a lot of care and deliberation. The board will revisit it regularly and make any necessary adjustments as the COVID-19 situation evolves. Thank you for your understanding.
