Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre invites everyone to participate in the 2024 Sounder Ski Tour. Whether you are a recreational skier, a fitness enthusiast, a person who likes to ski fast, or a SOD Paraffin Race Series skier, there is a place for you on the start line.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Sunday January 7th, 2024 11:59 PM Early Bird Registration Deadline
Thursday January 11th, 2024 11:59 PM Registration Deadline
Sunday January 14th, 2024 10:30 AM – Team captain’s meeting
Sunday January 14th, 2024 11:00 AM – Classic events start at 11:00 am with different distance categories going every 10 minutes.
Sunday January 14th, 2024 NOON – Free technique events start at noon with different distance categories going every 10 minutes.
SOUNDER SKI TOUR 2024 EVENTS
1 km Classic, 2 km Classic, 3 km Classic, 5 km Classic, 10km classic, and 20 km classic in wave starts 10 minutes apart, beginning at 11 am.
3 km Skate, 5 km Skate, 10 km Skate, and 20 km Skate in wave starts 10 minutes apart, beginning at noon.
Para-Nordic – Register in your correct age group and then e-mail [email protected] to choose PN Standing or Sit Ski.
SOD PARAFFIN RACE SERIES PARTICIPATION:
The Sounder Ski Tour 2024 is part of the SOD Paraffin Race Series 2024. The following events are included:
Event 1:
U6 and U8 boys and girls (YOB 2016 and 2017 +) 1 km Classic technique
Event 2:
U10 boys and girls (YOB 2014 and 2015) 2 km Classic technique
Event 3:
U12 boys and girls (YOB 2012 and 2013) 3 km Classic technique
U14 boys and girls (YOB 2010 and 2011)
Event 4:
U16 boys and girls (YOB 2008 and 2009) 5 km Classic technique
Event 5:
U18 boys and girls (YOB 2006 and 2007) 10 km Classic technique
Open (2001 & earlier) & Masters

Ski Waxing Protocol:
The Sounder Ski Tour is a part of the SOD Paraffin Race Series. In order to increase accessibility of the sport, focus on athlete development, and to protect the environment, any ski waxing products that contain fluoride compounds are NOT permitted. Hardeners are also not permitted. This restriction applies to all categories, including Open and Masters in the SOD Paraffin Race Series, and in all events that are part of the Sounder Ski Tour 2024. This restriction also applies to grip waxes. Thank you everyone.

AWARDS:
Awards will be for first, second, and third place finish, for each year of birth, in each event for the U8, U10, U12, and U14 categories. There will not be awards for U16, U18, Open and Masters participants.
There will be a prize table!
FACILITIES:
With more than 30 km of trails winding through lush forest, Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre offers great cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter “fat biking” for the novice through to the expert.
There is a chalet (a.k.a. “The Burrow”) with a kitchen and two washrooms/change rooms. There is also a wax room with limited space with two benches and two complimentary Toko waxing irons.
Please note that Parking Will Be Extremely Limited This Year – please consider carpooling and/or dropping off skiers and then parking elsewhere. Bus parking may not be permitted.
FOOD:
There is soup, bagels, and hot chocolate for all participants included in your registration fee.
